LCCTF
Since the inception of this Local/County HIDTA Task Force initiative in 1997, the investigators have targeted mid to upper level drug traffickers operating in, or impacting on Lake County, Indiana. As a result of combining two initiatives (DEA State & Local and LCCTF) in late 2003 the Lake County Combined Task Force emerged. The illicit drug enforcement efforts conducted by the local law enforcement agencies has primarily been directed at targets of opportunity rather than long-term investigations of criminal organizations. Local police departments focus their attention to the visible crime and virtually never attack the entire trafficking organization and members of DTOs whose arrest will greatly impact the amount and quality of drugs distributed.
LCCTF utilizes pen registers and Title III wire intercepts to identify members of DTOs. Some of these members have ties to Mexican DTOs connected to the Southwest border. This task force also uses traditional investigative techniques to disrupt and dismantle DTOs.
LCCTF will continue to coordinate and enhance federal, state and local law enforcement efforts which address the drug threat to Lake County, Indiana, while operating within the HIDTA strategy toward achieving measurable outcomes against that threat.
